Discussion
Activities in Cario for the visitor:
Resturants:

hotels to visit for a drink.
http://www.fourseasons.com/caironp/ (reasonable at circa 35EGP for a mockatil)
http://www.oberoihotels.com/oberoi_menahouse/index... (reasonable at circa 30EGP for a mockatil)
things to do:
If you must then go to Giza for pyramids but then go to the mena house hotel for a drink to cool off afterwards.
Go here and visit these:

you can hire a taxi and driver for 120EGP for the day and dont take any s
t when they try and scam you. Also whilst there ignore the guides and go and visit the tombs and if you find any locked, go and get a guide to unlock them (its their job).
There is the main one just on the left hand side of the big pit, but there is also one that is to the left and down a large walk way that they dont show visitors as it involves walking round.
From here force the taxi driver to go to all the other tombs in the same area (there should be at least 4 that can be visited) again the tourist generally dont go there as they are not aware of them so you can get it to yourself usually.

Felucca:
Ride a felucca along the Nile River. A great way to relax and enjoy a night under the stars in Cairo. Feluccas are available across from the Four Seasons Hotel in Garden City. To charter your own, negotiate a fair price of no more than 20 to 30 LE for about a half hour for the boat, or 50 LE for an hour, no matter how many people are on it. Pay after your ride, or you may get much less than you bargained for!
Park:
Al-Azhar Park near Heliopolis, is probably the newest and most recent park to open in Cairo, also with restaurants and entertainment available. It has a good vantage point of Islamic Cairo and the city skyline. This is the only one I went too.

Markets:
The Khan El-Khalili bazaar is a giant souq in Islamic Cairo. The merchants here are ravenous and skilled, so don't fall for the hard sell and be prepared to haggle. This is a great place to buy rustic glassware and perfume bottles. Be choosy and also very hot under those lamps.
Royal Club Mohamad Ali:
Worth a visit to just lounge by a pool for a day to recover.

Bar/shesha terrace place:
Need to go and source the terrace bar that I visited several times as the internet it says it no exist, all I can find is this review:
If you want to try smoking shesha(perfectly legal!) on your visit to Egypt then try this place. Its located on the Nile but from Zamelek Islands' corniche facing across to Cairo Downtown.
The waiter can bring out a tray of about 30 different flavours to choose from to smoke in your She-sha pipe. There is also various wines, beers and cocktails on offer, as well as a restaurant menu. It has a nice blend of local and foreign mix, plus front seat views of Nile city and the river itself .
There is a cover charge for getting in (30egp) But you can take that from your drinks tab once paying up afterwards.
None
Always go white as they have meters and never go black as they see the tourist/Expat and try to scam you.
For example: 30km run to the airport is circa 25EGP for the expat its 50-70EGP.
If they do try to scam you and you have told them a certain price and then they go all over 'me no speak english' on you, the best thing I can find to do other than stopping and walking away is to give them the money you agreed and wait for them to scream blue murder and just say that the price is agreed and you are trying to scam a tourist and its not on and walk away... They get the message!!
All of the above was done in 6 days and was great fun... next time the white desert
