In order to preserve the quality of the glass no personal items are allowed whilst you are on the Skywalk. So no cameras, phones, backpacks, etc. How crap! And at $32 a ticket too.

I agree with the comments here already. I did the Sky Walk back in June and it's a total disappointment - it's nowhere near as extreme as it looks in the artist's impressions. It's also overpriced and to add insult to injury, you're not allowed to take cameras on it either. Instead they have 'professional' photographers there who will quite happily relieve you of your dollars if you agree to purchase one of their photos. Maybe give it a go but just don't expect much.

I had always assumed that would be free to take a walk round!

Paying $30 would really take the shine off my visit!

Plus the $43 access fee just to get into the area. Ouch.

It's worth it for a quick spy I suppose, but it's not exactly amazing. As said, far better ways of seeing it.

I am positive it was all completely free when i visited about 15 yrs ago! Infact i think it was less money that that to take the helicopter tour!

I'm going next week, I won't be doing the sywalk though, how they were allowed to build such a monstrosity is beyond me, looking forward to the trip though smile

When we did our helicopter flight up the grand canyon the pilot pointed it out stuck up a side canyon off the main canyon. IIRC it's in the ahole of nowhere, the access road to it is a dirt track and a fair drive from the centre of vegas. There's better things to spend your money on.

Tour of the Hoover Dam's quite interesting, if you're heading to the canyon anyway. We went to the West Rim, but didn't bother with the skywalk- we'd given the Indians enough of our cash by then! The road to it is 14 miles of dirt track before you touch random tarmac for the last 10 miles. Rather uncomfortable in a convertible Mustang! We did the West Rim as it was a lot nearer (still a couple of hundred miles from Vegas if I remember rightly), but if we hadn't stopped off at Hoover I reckon we could have easily made the South Rim and back in a day.

excellent, we thought about car hire, the thought of driving through the dessert sounds good to me, your trip sounds exactly what were looking for, although doing it by air also sounds amazing! seems like we will have to cram in alot in 5 days..seems like the canyon is the place to visit, has anyone been to lake mead?

What euroboy said.
I was there about 3 years ago, got a helicopter from Vegas, flight along the grand canyon, stopped at a working cowboy ranch, got lunch and got to take part in some activities like horse riding and lassoing etc.
The helicopter went right over hoover damn.
Then on the way back, the helicopter flew right down the strip, great experience!
