Las Vegas Info/ Advise
Discussion
Hi People
Thinking of going to Las Vegas at the start of November for a week to meet 2 friends out there.
There are 3 of us going and wondering what sort of cost it is out there as I am thinking of taking £100-£150 per day to spend. I am hoping this will allow me to have a good time with-out skimping too much or am I wrong? And before anyone states depends how much you gamble, I will not do lots of it maybe £20-£40 a day lol
Also anyone know of any places that are a must see out there.
All advise and info welcome/ need lol
cheers

Good lurking, 1 post in 26 months.
Hotels can be cheap if you don't mind staying a little away from the action, or where it's a bit grottier. Circus Circus has seen better days, and it's a good walk from the centre, but only about £20 a night last time I was there.
The Grand Canyon is worth seeing from a chopper, plane or tour bus trip, depending on your wallet.
You can get a good view of the Bellagio Fountains from the top floor of their (free) car park, and this gives a good nightime view of the strip too.
Drinks are expensive, unless you get them free at a bar. Settle down and slip a couple of notes in a poker machine, and the bar tender may give you a free one.
There is a "Pleasure Pit" in Planet Hollywood in the evenings were good looking girls deal in underwear, if it's gone, or gone downhill since I was there last year, I apologise.
Things we would have done with more time:
- Gun shop and fire something big.
- LV motorspeedway if there is something good on.
- Stratosphere rides on the top of the scraper.
- More shopping.
- Death Valley in a 'Vette.
- Bought a guide book for even more ideas.
Moneywise, you will spend what you take. It's that kind of place.
(Number 13 is a winner, put loads on it.)

Not sure what your hotel budget is, but Planet Hollywood can be had for around £80/night and is perfectly located. I've gone with three mates and we've all shared the two queen beds, as they are big enough to share without feeling too 'gay'.
Circus Circus is a s
thole and poorly located near the top of the strip, but Excalibur is a bit better, around the same price and is in a better location.
The auto collection in the Imperial Palace is fairly good, it's a glorified car showroom though, and some of the cars are a bit suspect.
£20/day for gambling simply isn't enough, unless your going to whack it all in 5 cent slot machines, which is incredibly dull.
£20 will last you about 10 mins on a blackjack or roulette table, even with a $5 min bet, which themselves are hard to find in all but the lowest grade casinos.
PH buffet is rated as one of the - if not THE - best in Vegas, depending which reviews you read. I've eaten there, the selection is great and good quality (but then I was surrounded by the Miss America finalists, which may have enhanced the experience).
There's also a good breakfast place up near Riviera, called Peppermill. Old School diner type restaurant, big portions, and cheap.

i did Bellagio for 6 nights in october last year for £700 flights + accomodation. probably did about £800 in spending money without being flash or skimping.
just make sure you get a hotel in the middle of the action: Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood or The Mirage are all pretty damned good.
If you splash out at Planet Hollywood you can get themed suites, Scarface, Die Hard (friend had this) etc with all the real props from the films and the best views of vegas etc. excellent.
make sure you visit.

Thanks for the advice and info people we have a budget of £500-£700 each for the flights and accommodation and then £100-£150 per day to spend and I really wanted to make sure this was enough to have a good time out there as I did not know the price of the drinks and food etc. I am going to look up some of the places people have mentioned and if there is anyone else with any more info I would love to hear about it. Thanks again people

We stayed at the gold coast hotel, just off the strip. They run a courtesy bus every 15 minutes which drops you off beside wild bills at the junction of caesers, bellagio and flamingo. It's cheap, rooms are clean and quiet. Views aren't great but how much time to you spend in your room looking out the window? While you're gambling they keep bringing you free drink, just tip the waitress a couple of dollars a drink.
The Flamingo is a great value, well located hotel. Get a high room & you will see the Bellagio fountain show. I'd go mid strip if you can but take a trip down to the Wynn for the breakfast buffet & Ferrari showroom/shop.

Stay at Bills Gamblin Hall and Saloon. Its cheap ($35 a night) and right opposite Ceasars on the strip. You also have the benefit of not having to walk for 20 minutes to get to your room as its pretty small.
Vegas eats money. If you go the buffet route you can get a daily pass for $45, which is unlimited and works at 6 or 7 hotels.
Nightclubs are upto $100 to get into - although probably average about $50-70. If you aren't with a gaggle of girls (which isnt hard if you have an English accent, dress well and have a bit of chat) you'll need to start throwing a few $$s at the door supervisors so you arent queuing for hours (as the people with hot girls get plucked out of the line) 2 vodka & sodas were about $24 with tip.
I don't have the inner strength to look through my bank statement and see how much I spent. But it was the best trip I've been on, so the cost is rather secondary to the memories now.

Or tip her $20 to ensure your glass is never empty.shakotan said:
What you need to understand about Vegas Casino Hotels is that they are much cheaper mid-week than weekends.
Take Bill's Gamblin Hall for example. Mon-Weds it's $35 for a room, but Thurs it's $50 and Fri/Sat it's up over $100.
But the weekend is soooo much more fun in Vegas as thats when the Americans fly in.Take Bill's Gamblin Hall for example. Mon-Weds it's $35 for a room, but Thurs it's $50 and Fri/Sat it's up over $100.
