Taking the family to Looe in a few weeks. Has anyone got ant recomendations of family friendly places to visit and eat, and any really good pasty shops.

Sarah's pasty shop , is great , follow the main street in east looe as it turns to the right toward the harbour wall , the shop is on the RHS , it is just a doorway and counter beyond which is the kitchens , all freshly prepared and baked on the premisis daily , enjoy !~!

Avoid Archies and the Golden Guinea- they both look nice from the outside but thats are far as it goes. The Ship in the main street is good and family friendly. If you want a great view try Tom Sawyers at Hannafore (other side of the bridge from the main street), lovely views of the bay and Looe Island. If you like curry the Indian is spot on (Moonlight) can't miss it as it's the only one in town.

Just come back from a week in that part of Cornwall and can 100% recommend "Trawlers on the Quay" just down from the fish market. You will need to book for dinner (not sure about lunch), we were lucky and got in early the first night but then booked for the next visit later in the week.

Excellent menu (usually in window) and very well priced. I can recommend the monkfish wrapped in parma ham and the duo of fish (plaice goujons and fried cod) with superb chips.

I am told that "Dom's" opposite is also good but somewhat more expensive when we viewed the menu.

Just off Fore street is a place called "Squid Ink" which got some good write-ups but we didn't have time to try it this visit.

Enjoy.

Worth checking if Trawlers is family friendly during the evening, also Doms(?) (assume you mean The Old Sail Loft??). A lot of the restuarants aren't (usually) child friendly during the evening. Papa Ninos is and is great.

I would guess that Trawlers is family friendly but the OP should ask to be safe and possibly eat earlier in the evening. The Old Sail Loft is the name I couldn't remember, although being a PHer I did remember his RRSport with DOM number plate biggrin

One other place that has come to mind is the "Tex Mex" place on Fore Street. Looked busy on Saturday night and should be family friendly.

Get yourself a handful of miles along the coast to Fowey. Sam's is fantastic if you like seafood.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys.
Sounds like the eating for the holiday is sorted.
Now what about places to visit, again family friendly. Will most probably do Eden Project as we have been before and loved it.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are interesting. As mentioned above Fowey is a nice place for a wander.

I'll second that and add The Boatyard as a good family friendly pizza and pasta restaurant down by the quay side. Park in the main car park at the top of the town and walk down. If the kids are tired later get the local bus back up to the car park from the stop by the church in town, you can judge how steep the walk is on the way down yikes

We don't have kids so don't know much about places to visit for them but "Porfell Animal Land" is advertised near where we stay (Pelynt) and is about a 15 minute drive from Looe. Might be good to Google it and see what comes up.

If you like a good rummage through rock pools with the kids then Talland Bay is an ideal place for that. Follow the main road out of Looe towards Polperro and just after the right turn to Pelynt turn left towards the Talland Bay Hotel. Follow the road to the hotel and then go past it about 50 yards. It looks a bit tight but isn't after you turn right. At the bottom is a nice place to get food and drink (crab sarnies, coffee, ice creams etc) and it is £3 to park all day. Make sure the tide is out and you can spend a few enjoyable hours exploring the pools and beach.

Nope, we stay here http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/cabins/our_locatio...

The cabins (some of them) are dog friendly as we have to take this idiot with us
