Bit of an odd one. I've not been abroad for a good few years by plane and am going to be picking someone up a friend from the airport soon. Assuming the plane arrives on time roughly how long is it likely to take from landing to him walking out the door?

Depends on the flight size, meaning the amount of baggage to be off loaded. I would expect a time of between 1/2 to one hour.

Lol.

Flying into Luton, hopefully it'll be less than that.

That's my experience too - and a ticket machine in the car park that ate my credit card (although a man came out and let me out for free as I was causing a tailback!)

Suggest you parachute out as you near the airport smile

Choke point is normally the passport control line - if the flight gets in behind a jumbo could be hours, if not, could be minutes. I always get there on time and wait.

Luton is a bd for stopping in the drop off zone, I've seen cars towed and tickets issued to cars with people sitting in them. Tell your lift to wait down the road or at the station and give them a call when lad. They'll be up there by the time you get out.

I've got from sitting on the plane to getting in the car inside 30 mins at Manchester Airport.

Did it even less at La Rochelle in France - mind you arrivals lounge was a tent at the side of the apron!

Park up outside the airport and ask them to phone you when they're out, then meet them in the car park.

No point in paying the bandits more than the minimum for parking.

There's no consistency, can be twenty minutes, can be two hours.

The Iris Scanning is Awesome for this. Especially at the times when you land at the same time as elenty thousand idiots from various bucket flights all queuing like sheep.

Stroll straight up the machine. [Derren Brown]look in to my eyes, Look into my eyes [/Derren Brown] Done.

Passport still in pocket, zero fuss, and approx 20 secs. Straight out.

I'm sure the passport control guy nearly lost it when I asked the iris scanning machine to "please don't steal my soul". The joys of landing after sampling the free airline booze.

Best I ever managed was 20m to get in the car with hand baggage only at a fairly deserted Cardiff Airport on an 11pm inbound flight including getting my NCP ticket verified second. So I'd say about 45m minimum but more like over an hour.
