Cyprus airports and flights

Hi all,

I'm planning on flying from Cyprus to the UK (southern so heathrow, gatwick, Bristol), just after Christmas this year.

Do any PHers have any tips as for the best airport to fly from (larnaca/paphos?). Ideally the closest to Akrotiri. In addition if there are any airlines that offer cheap deals. I'm finding flights with easyjet from larnaca however I think this might be a trek from Akrotiri.

If anyone is/has been at Aki/lived in Cyprus and has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

We have a house outside of Paphos and drive know the area well......definitely Paphos airport is the easiest for you by far, its about a 20min drive from Akrotiri....easyjet are cheap enough and fly from paphos to bristol and cyprus airways go from paphos to heathrow and are reasonable, I usually do a mix of both

Just as a warning....

We (wife & 12 month old) flew with a charter to Larnaca in July (never again), staying at Aphrodite Hills (closer to Paphos but no flights from Dublin)

Full of chav scum on their way to Aya Napa(?sp)

Worst flight ever.....I will never fly with a charter again.

I was based at RAF Akrotiri in the late 1990s.

Paphos was less miles, but then when the motorway was completed it was also quicker. It's a nicer, smaller airport than Larnaca....gateway to Ayia Napa/Nipple Beach.
