Hey Folks,

I'm taking my DBS to Paris for a weekend, staying near the eiffel tower but the hotel doesn't have parking - does anyone have any recommendations for good secure parking (preferably comfortable enough for a biggish car like the DBS)?

Hi Ross, was there in August although not staying in the same part. There seem to be plenty of garage parking out there, all underground, manned 24 hours, classical music playing, hand car wash that type of thing. We payed about £46 for 2 days which seemed reasonable to me. The hotel will point you to the nearest one.

The vast majority of Paris car parks are underground, most are old and look like architectural afterthoughts. Almost all are designed with the Twingo in mind. I would not even try to park a DBS in one of these. If you can get in, chances are you will be crying when you leave with your damaged alloys.

The best place to go would be the underground car park on the Champs Elysées, just drive down from the Arc de Triomphe and you will see the entrance signs on the right hand side. Reasonable costs for parking in central paris, petrol station in there too. Main bonus is the relatively gentle entrance/exits which suit low and wide cars. The car park spaces are also pretty wide for Paris so less chance of picking up any dings.

I have seen some very nice metal down there so you should be in good company.

Thanks guys, that's great. The Champs Elysee sounds about right - need relatively shallow ramp and wide enough to not scrape the alloys, perfect.

Thanks guys,

Ross

Good luck getting to the Champs Elise from the Arc d'triomph I sat there for an hour watching the traffic with all the near misses, slight touches and real accidents I was kept well entertained.

^^^^ That!

Especially as you have to stop on the Arc de Triomphe roundabout to let traffic join! hehe

priorité à droite! Love it smile
Arc de Triomphe is fine, just take it easy and look ahead. Reality is you don't need a car to move around in Paris unless it's business and you want to be moving between the centre and La Defense for example. Rest is far nicer to see on foot, plus the Metro is cheap and a pleasure compared to the Tube. Park up and enjoy the city/wine by foot.
