I'm thinking March, Mrs oilydan wants to go in the Summer Holidays.

Anyone been around this time? Is the weather any good?

Temp will be pretty much the same, a degree hotter in july at around 28 average.
However, in March, you can expect around half an inch of rain for the month, but in July, it CAN be a lot more; like 6 inches.
I generally go in April, which is perfect.
However, had a week there in July as part of my stag do (many years ago) and didn't see a cloud.
The above figures are averages, so I guess they are more reliable.

We went in July a couple of years ago. There were a couple of storms in the afternoon, but they didn't last long before the sun came out again. Not the best time of year to go but it certainly didn't affect our holiday.

I've done a couple of trips in the August Holiday, when the Kids are off school and visit, it can rain, but not all day, go in apub when it rains and sit it out for an hour. In can rain any time in the tropics, I am in Borneo now and by first August this year we had already hhad the rain foall of anormal full year. The rain is warm don';t worry about it.

I was there in early-mid August this year and there was quite a disappointing amount of rain (most days at least once, and some days random showers throughout the day). However, it was said that they hadn't had any decent rain for ages before we got there.

It is regarded as the best place to go in Thailand that time of the year for the monsoons on the western coast, but these can still have an impact on Samui at times. The upshot is I think it is difficult to predict!

You can only work with the figures suggested by historical data and weather patterns.
What to expect :-
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Average Temperature °C 25.5 26.3 27.7 29.0 28.6 28.2 28.1 27.9 27.5 27.2 26.3 25.4
Average Rainfall mm 37.5 8.1 11.7 62.5 185.5 112.8 142.8 123.2 209.3 260.1 302.2 98.2

As you can see, the rainy season peaks in November. Over the past couple of years, it seems to have drifted a little later, but who knows.

I was in Koh Samui late July, When we were their (4 days) it didn't rain once in the day and twice at night, rest of the time, baking hot dry sun... Less humidity than expected too!!
