Having only ever been to Corralejo there.
Has anyone been to this place Barcelo Jandia Playa, www.barcelojandiaplaya.com not sure I can read anymore Tripadviser reviews as they are all starting to sound very similar.
Thanks anyway.

Jandia has some cracking hotels. Is that the one in between La Lajita (sp?) and Jandia? I stayed at the Atlantis Palace in Corralejo.
Off Topic : When i was there 2 years ago they were building a dual carrigeway from Morro Jable/Jandia to Puerto Del Rosario (the airport) ? Does anybody know if thats finished?

Jandia has a huge beach but be careful about the muddy ditch just before it. Ask me how I know?
Would it be this little stretch of flood plain behind the beach, not sure where the water comes from (high tide ???)

That causes this walkway to the beach

and this on the way back.

However it does throw up a nice picture

No, it was further down. I recall stepping over a wall (possibly, this was a few years ago) and there was scrubby grass and what looked like a slightly muddy stretch which when I stepped on it went up to my shin. We drove down from Caleta de Fuste and I did it almost straight away - typical.
On that trip, I drove up to the north of the island and drove a hire Corsa along the rutted unmade roads and in the process annoyed my mate by seeing a very rare bird, a houbara bustard, which looks like a roadrunner. Wasn't aware of it at the time though.

Ah, I think I know where you mean.
The rest of the Island is just so desolate in between towns on the main drag, no wonder they use some of it for filming moon/mars type locations.
There is some very diverse wildlife out there, not least the millions of goats just wondering around. That and the obvious signs of early settlers too.
