After my rant yesterday about not minding RyanAir's 'hidden' charges, I've just seen this and it has annoyed me.
Even being my local airport, I never really use it as the flights out from there don't fit my needs. I certainly won't use it any more. Is this common procedure with any other small airports?
Taken from the local rag:-
"From November 15th, each adult passenger will have to pay £6 to move past the security checks and into the departure lounge, with children from 3 to 15 being charged £3."

Which airport out of interest?
seems as if they want to upset their customers, and their staff as they will end up with more complaints / barneys.
It's like the train station saying, well we've not had enough customers travelling and buying newspapers, lukewarm tea, curly sarnies and dodgy sausage rolls so we are going to charge evreyone a quid to get onto the platform.
Hope this doesn't give Netwonk Rail or whatever the current incarnation is any ideas.

They have been doing this at Norwich Airport for years. It used to be £3 and call an 'Airport Development Fee', now it's a fiver and just called a rip-off
I've heard rumours that you can refuse to pay it, and you have to sign a letter or something?
I don't bother as i put in on expenses, although i think it should be on the ticket price 'if' they need to charge it at all.

Nothing dramatic, just my better half was on that flight and spotted a distinguished Englishman who got slightly agitated by the lack of action to sort things up. Västerås airport was closed due to the weather and they landed at Skavsta instead, and no one at Skavsta or Ryan Air seemed to know how to sort the rest of the transport.
