August Honeymoon 2011?
Discussion
Need some help folks, I'm officially in charge of next years honeymoon and I hate decsion making (suit choice; morning suit vs normal suit?) plus there are financial and environmental conditions in place and there is too much damm choice!
Budget is £3-3.5k all in and we're looking at all inclusive as its just less hassle than carrying spending money. Top of the list was South Africa but seeing as August equals winter down there we've had to set that aside for now. Second choice was a multiple centre break in east Africa, something like a beach in Zanibar or Kenya followed by a safari there too, unfortunately the budget doesn't seem to cover that. Therefore that leaves us with the following:
Maldives/Mauritius: The obvious choice but we're worried about spending that much on what could be one of the not-so-good resorts, some of them look a little thread-bare. Basically £3k might not be enough to really enjoy it out there as it should be enjoyed. Plus we're not 100% sure we wouldn't get bored on a small island.
South Caribbean: Second most obvious choice but the Northern islands are out I guess due to hurricane season leaving St Lucia, Aruba and the like. Bit worried they'll be full of kids and Americans for what we're spending and will all be a bit "big hotel" type resort.
Thailand/Far East islands: I know very little out there and some of the places look amazing but there's a question over weather again, isn't it hurricane season? Lots and lots of choice again though. Sri Lanka or India are also on the list but I know nothing about them.
Europe: Not my first choice but the other half has suggested we could save some cash to do South Africa at the right time of year. Road or rail taking in some or all such places as the nice bits of Italy, France and Spain. Paris would have to include. Alternatively we could do something posh and VERY warm in the med like Greece or Morocco. Probably not all inclusive options.
Beyond that, I'm open to suggestions. I'd love any help the great PH travelling community could offer on other possiblities or in-budget suggestions for the list above regarding pro's and cons I might have got wrong or right. I've seen some great suggestion threads on here for holidays and honeymoons but they mostly make my budget look poor! Hayes&Jarvis and TripAdvisor have been our starting point but I might take a wander down the travel agents tomorrow but the collective knowledge here is always a great start!
GO!
