Is it worth it or not?

Figures I'll get a couple of hundred in Euros bfore I go, but I recall the last time I was in Fuertaventura it wasn't really necessary and we just used our debit cards.

What say you?

I agree, don't bother. More hassle than its worth. Just use cash or a travel money card type arrangement.

Get a travel money card. I took one to Ibiza a few weeks back. Won't use TC's again.

Seriously considering one for my trip to Honkers. What's the deal, free withdrawals abroad or is there a loading?

I had one from First Choice. 2 Euro charge every time you withdraw cash.I only withdrew cash once ( 400 euros ).

Seems reasonable enough as most charge commision on TC's anyway.

Post office don't charge you for withdrawals (I'm 95% sure - although check)
But they charge a percentage of something somewhere along the way though (I think)

Either a travel cashcard or if you travel in the EU regularly, get a Nationwide Flex Account. They don't charge for ATM withdrawls in most of Europe and their exchange rates are decent. No messing about other than transferring from your main UK account the day before you go! I travelled a fair bit in Europe last year and used the card just like I would back home every time!

Where would one procure one of these cards then?

Post Office, travel agents, online (something like a Canton FX card.)
Most of the high street locations where you can get one will have it done in a few minutes and ready to go!

Just take money. I always do. In addition, if you check what foreign bank is linked with your own, withdrawals are free. Barclays is Deutsche Bank for example.
