Its coming up to a friends 50th birthday party and we are planning a trip to Amsterdam. Initially the plan was just to go straight to Amsterdam but now people are saying we should stop at Ostend en route.

Having never been to Ostend before I have no idea what there is to do there. I understand its just a port? So, does anyone have any ideas of things to do in Ostend for a group of chaps ageing from 22 to 50? I think we are only staying there for 1 night.

Thanks in advance.

If me I would avoid Oostende and look at Brugge or Knokke. The latter is on the coast (and close to Oostende) and is where a lot of people take their cars on a Sunday to be seen. Last time I was there I stayed in Brugge then swung past Knokke on the way home. There were plenty of exotics on show.

Absolutely bugger all. As said, go to Bruges and sample the beer.

Thanks for the suggestions. It would appear that none of our group have ever been there before and none knew why we were going there! So with the help of this thread we are going else where or may just head straight to Amsterdam. Thanks again.
