Stag weekend in the Algarve - suggestions?

A few 40ish lads, 3 nighter in the Algarve somewhere.

We want to stay in a hotel that is walking distance from some suitable nightlife, and a drive/cab away from a golf course (which is probably not a problem), but as I don't know the area, I am looking for suggestions which resort should I choose, Faro, Albufeira etc?

Not looked yet, but I guess Faro is probably the airport of choice, so should I go for Faro as the resort?

Any thoughts?

Looks nice, but not sure the nightlife will be quite up to stag weekend standard.

Whats the Albufeira nightlife like, anyone know?

used to be a sleepy fishing village many years ago, however i believe it is now very "popular", I have a villa in vale do lobo and would not venture that way out of choice !!

Sounds perfect for a stag weekend then. Any other thoughts?

Albufeira is possibly your best bet if you are after a stag weekend break, be careful about heading too far west as it becomes far less commercial and more of the old Algarve, anything more then about an hour west of Faro is unlikely to be what you are after. Sorry cant help on the Faro and eastwards areas as I have not bothered to venture that way
