Best way to collect AirMiles
Discussion
What is the absolute best way to collect maximum AirMiles as quick as poss? Are there certain credit cards that rack them up, are there other schemes out there and can I collect them all into one account?
It's occurred to me that if was getting a point for every £ I spend these days I'd soon rack up a decent number but the AirMiles website isn't overly helpful for working out the most efficient way of collecting them.

Have you tried looking at the airmiles website? I've got one of these http://www.airmiles.co.uk/collect/lloydstsb/lloyds... accounts and use the Amex for my monthly bills (food, etc). Plan is keep saving till I can buy flights to Oz, currently I can get to Dubai.
Presuming you are using a generic term and not the trademark 'airmiles'. You need to decided which alliance you'll be flying with.
Based in the UK the obvious choice is between BA/One World and bmi/Star Alliance. bmi is extremely generous, but doesn't allow you to upgrade using your points. Also they are highly likely to be swallowed by Lufthansa's Miles and More scheme which isn't generous.
Both airlines issue credit cards as well - which usually earn more points than flying (but don't give you status).
