Restaurants in Rome?
Discussion
We went earlier in the year and stayed near the Republica - found a few nice places within walking distance but 3 on the Via Flavia that were nice and seemed authentic (had locals in them).
La Pentolaccia
Anni Cinquanta Srl
La Locanda
We ate out elsewhere but found it to be fairly average, having said this it was just a long weekend so there wasn't a huge amount of time to explore all the delights.

In the centre most seem to have exactly the same menu and the prices are utterly crazy. The food is generally mediocre as well. If you get out of the centre then any busy looking taverna will be good.
I'd echo this, it's essentially a huge tourist trap on the whole but every dark and uninviting back street seems to have a hidden gem on it.Prices also seem to vary depending on if you are a local or a tourist, one to watch

Lovely place though, I'd like to spend a lot more time there, especially now I know where the free water is and how to avoid the "brello, hand fan" men

The is an amazing place around the corner from the Trevi Fountains call Vineria Chianti. We went there the last night of our trip back in May and the food was great, the atmosphere was brilliant and it wasn't ridiculously expensive.
I guess the only downside was it was pretty busy because of where it was but some of the other places nearby where dead so you could take this as an upside!
