Going for a few days on business. Shenzhen has an airport - but as far as I can tell, no direct flights from the UK. Should I just fly to Hong Kong and get a cab? Perhaps I could even stay in Hong Kong and travel back and forth each day? Any tips?

Many thanks.

Make sure you've got enough visa entries available if you plan on staying in Hong Kong and entering China each day.

You can fly to hong kong and catch a train to Shenzhen, 30min journey.

I prefer hong kong so done the commuting thing, However you will need a visa multiple entry for this.

Many thanks for the replies. I was thinking of getting a Chinese visa before going (as if I was just going to China).

.
There is a new visa application center in Manchester now.
Thats if London is any closer for you.
Dropped the passport and the application form off on Wednesday, collected it on Friday.
This is the standard service.

How long can you be in Hong Kong before travelling into China? You can get a same day application processed in HK for a Chinese Visa, and it's not expensive.

You can also get the bus/taxi directly from the airport to the Chinese border at Shenzhen.

I have offices in Shenzhen (as well as Shantou), so am in and out there a bit.

I normally get a private car (from where the buses depart at HK airport), comfortable and easy.

Dear OP,
Sorry to run a little off topic

I am going to China soon on a 6 month tourist visa with 2 entries.
Each entry can be up to 60 days.
So going to have 60 days in China, then a 2 week vacation in Thailand, and return to China for my second 60 day stint.
On my second visit to China, and when the second 60 days run out and I have to leave, can I go to HK and apply for another China visa ?

Yup, if you've got a valid reason to be there, or even as a tourist, it's no problem to get a visa for each trip, however regular.

I know a guy who spent at least 9 months a year in China, on and off, and had no worries getting visas.

They just want to know who's coming and going, there's no real restrictions on how often you can visit.

Thanks Maeser,

Thats good news,

I was thinking I would not be able to get another Chinese visa in HK, as I read on the HK visa website, that it was just for HK residents.

Oh well, just 1 way to find out I suppose

As a UK passport holder you cannot get a same day visa. Go to any CTS location and you can get a two day turnaround for circa $1800 hkd. First visa will be two entry the six month unlimited entry.

Not quite correct.

If I am back in my home town of Manchester,
I can get a 'same day' 12 month multiple entry 'F' business visa
