Sharm - Sharks Bay
Discussion
You're about 5 miles away from naama bay which is the main bar area In Sharm. The Camel Bar is OK to eat and drink in. I think you might need to get there early to get a table upstairs. Apart from that there are loads of other places to eat drink etc.
You can probably snorkel right on your beach but there are some great diving areas nearby. You could have kitesurfing lessons or go on quad bikes. I'm sure most of this can be arranged when you get there.
In Egypt expect hassle everywhere from the locals "you want taxi? . . . nice pyramid ornaments . . . . yesterdays daily mail . . etc etc"

I'll second the Camel Bar. Food is decent if a little 'run of the mill', rooftop bar is very cool at night. One of the better dive-school operators too, by reputation.
When we were there a few years back, the restaurant at the right-hand end of the row that the Camel is in the middle of (up some stairs outside) was pretty good, and certainly busy.
I'll also second the "hassle" element - there were a few decent & hospitable shop/restaurant-keepers, but the majority seemed the sort to actually stand in your way in the street as a way to entice you into their place!
Becky (inadvertently) found the perfect way of getting rid of them though - this one chap wouldn't leave us alone, following us down the street, until she held her LEFT hand up, palm outwards, and said 'go away'. I think that gesture may have been a little insulting to the chap, esp. from a woman...

In arabic culture that's the hand you wipe your arse with. Eating, shaking hands, etc. is all done ONLY with the right hand - the left one is considered unclean. You could probably have some real fun if any of the locals piss you off...
(It also means that anyone in Saudi convicted of theft automatically becomes a social pariah (right-hand is cut off))
