Background: A couple of friends are due to get married summer next year, they'll be getting married in Wilmslow and so far they haven't managed to find a decent hotel circa 4 star in the area to stay at following the reception which will be somewhere near Adlington (I think).

So far their plan is to travel to the Hilton in Manchester following the reception - which is too far methinks.

Do any PHers know of good hotels in and around Adlington/Wilmslow that wouldn't break the bank?

I have stayed here http://www.didsburyhouse.co.uk/ and the rooms are amazing. It is about 8 miles away I think.

If the reception is in Adlington it will be at The Hunting Lodge - I've been to two there and it's a really nice venue.

Mottram Hall, Hollin Hall and Barcelo Shrigley Hall are all local but get very mixed reviews, and bear in mind that Didsbury is 30+ mins from Adlington. This place is close and looks awesome:

Or Mottram, both very good.

I don't think the Wizzard has been open for a long time, it was a nightclub last IIRC.

I think you've got The Wizard confused with somewhere else, it's just a small pub/restaurant smile

I think people are confusing the Wizard with the Merlin, on Alderley Road.
