We're planning a honeymoon to Sri Lanka next August (still trying to choose a hotel, quality vs travel time) but everytime I look at different package options through Kunoi, Virgin, and Hayes & Jarvis I get a multitude of choice of carriers and I don't really have any experience with any of them.

Just wondering if PHer's can suggest any advice? Preferably avoid BA as I'd rather not have my flight cancelled, heard good things about Virgin and we've also been offered Sri Lanka Airways, Emirites and Ethaid (sp?).

Any thoughts?

Unless some kind family member decides to fork out for a wedding present, then yes, flying economy.

I have flown Sri Lankan to Colombo from Heathrow. They were everything that we needed; on-time, friendly and clean aircraft. Above all, the reason that we flew with this airline is that they are the only airline that flies from the UK (Heathrow) to Sri Lanka direct. Hence you get to spend more time in Sri Lanka.

Enjoy your trip, its a great place to visit.

Virgin don't fly to Colombo, but Virgin Holidays use Sri Lankan to get there.

Etihad and Emirates are 4* airlines, Sri Lankan are only 3*.

Emirates go via Dubai but offer a number of uk gateways so might be better if you aren't close to London, Etihad are ok to, both have a pretty good offering in economy. Sri Lankan can be very variable with some flights ok and others atrocious though to be fair the london flights tend to be their best effort.

I was disappointed with Virgin. But I have family that won't fly with anyone else.

BA was surprisingly good this year. I found the legroom to be good even in a standard seat.

I've not flown with them but apparently Emirates are the Daddy.
