Hi, just booked a 4 day trip to Livigno for just after new year.
Has anybody been? What do you think of the place?

This will be my first trip outside France for about 10 years.

I'm a boarder not a skier if that makes a difference!

Thanks.

I suspect it will be much cheaper than France and the food better also.

That's always a bonus!

There are 22 of us going so should be brilliant fun.

I'm partial to a nice Italian lass as well smile

Going to Les Arc later in the year so this will just be a finding the feet again and a few apres ski beers.

It's a cracking resort! We went for the Christmas week last season and got a bit over a metre of snow in a week. smile

It was desperately cold some days though (-30c during the day!) so bring lots of warm layers. You probably already realise, but it's a tax-free area of some description so booze in the supermarkets is very cheap - don't bring your own spirits. The pub / club things were not at all to my taste - lot's of very loud dance music interspersed with shouty Italian DJs from 3pm onwards. Not great for an apres relax but I guess that's what draws the punters in. Booze in cafe / bars was cheap by Euro resort standards but probably similar to London prices. Food was good and well priced. Enjoy!

I boarded in Livigno over new years in 2008 and loved the place. Really, the only downers are long airport transfers (we actually flew in to Innsbruck) and, as has been said, its really bloody cold.

Been there boarding twice, not massivley challenging if carving and speed is your thing then its a superb, cheap and fun place to be and has a good mix of quality food/shopping

We've been 3 times. Long transfer (4 hours) from Bergamo, but a lovely coach ride around Lake Como. Livigno was great. Very cheap in comparison to Austria. We got some 'Alpine' in-car sounds for about 40% less than in the UK. Mind you, this was before the Euro so don't know if this has changed things. Good snow in January but as others have mentioned, VERY cold.
