You'll pay similar inflated prices in Turkeys Dalaman Airport. Off the top of my head...
McDonalds - single cheeseburger (99p menu effort over here) - 8 lira, Roughly £4 quid.
a big mac etc meal - 25 lira , roughly 12.50.

Nearby snack type shops were selling small (approx 150-200ml) bottles of water for 10-15 lira (5-7 quid)

Oh and if you really want stung, have a holiday to Ibiza then go clubbing
Nearly all night clubs - 10 euro a water, single vodka 15 euro, add on a mixer you're 10 euros and a redbull can be anyhing from 10-20 depending on where, when and who is there.

Over £20 for a lamb-handbag kebab in Tromso, Norway.

Mind you beer was £14+ per 500ml (nearly a pint) in the bars.

Norway can be expensive, particularly in the more touristy areas. I was in the Baron and Baroness many years ago, the cost of a pint doubled after 10pm. I couldn't believe it and left smile At a 'restaurant' on Aker Brygge; three 6oz steaks, a small bowl of chips between three people, one 500ml of Ringnes each, bill was over £100 hehe

Was even quite tasty.

£18 for a small tub of pringles in Dalaman airport, Turkey.

Got us before we'd sussed the exchange rate.

Ive lived in Oz most of my life and never come across such a thing. What kind of water and how much? If you ask for water for the table the restaurant will usually suggest "sparkling or still?" , you must specify tap water if you do not want to be charged for the bottled water. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
