Seattle. WA over Christmas - suggestions (BC too)

I will once again be in Seattle, this time from Christmas Day until the 2nd Jan.

Rather than just bum around the city like usual my GF and I were hoping to take a trip or two.

Ideas we had were:

Vancouver
Whistler
Portland
Cannon Beach

However, other than Vancouver - the others are all either fully booked ($600 a night in Whistler, no thanks) or better in the Summer (Cannon Beach).

I'd love to get a log cabin somewhere for a couple of days, but have no idea where to start looking.

Any suggestions, or alternate suggestions for things to do in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia (basically a drive from Seattle)?

Take a Kenmore seaplane service out to Friday Harbor, then spend a few days island hopping around the San Juans on the ferries.
