im going skiing in les arcs for a week on saturday, its stated that i need my ehic card. ive been looking for the past couple of days and cannot find it anywhere, is there a place i can go to pick one up or can i only apply by post/phone/online.

also if it doesnt arrive in time could i try and find out my details on the card and write them down or is all that info useless without a valid card?

You can still access free emergency healthcare in France without your EHIC card. You'll need to provide proof of identity and address and the French health service will then send you a bill.

Our bill came to €20, so we just paid up. Not sure how to claim back after that point!

Down the bottom of that has where you can get a replacement certificate.

To the second poster, EHIC entitles you to healthcare free to the standard of the country you are in, so if the frogs get charged, then you get charged.
We're just fortunate here that we get more free than pretty much anyone else.
