Dubai end of Jan 2011

Just received confirmation on fights and hotel for a trip to Dubai from January 22 to Jnuary 30.

Going to relax and burn some vacation before starting a new job in February.

Staying at the Dar al Masyaf Jumeirah Madinat (or however its written)

Apart from Burj Dubai, and the malls - as well as running further up the beach to Burj al Arab, what are the points of interest and places to go or a relaxing nightcap, or some late night dancing in Dubai?

Any point in going to Abu Dhabi for the Ferrari World now that I am there, or is this better left for another time?

Any points, ideas, advices would be appreciated. If you live there and want to show a fellow PH'er around PM me for info

Its pretty much only hotel bars that allow a drink. Try the Buddha Bar at the Grovesnor House. Food wise, the Rhodes restaurant at Le Royal Meridien is newish and well rated as is his place at the Grovesnor. If you cant stretch to the prices in the Malls(and there are no bargains)take a cab to an area called Karama, you will likely be tapped up by a local who will take you "Undercover" for some very reasonable and convincing fake gear of every description. Good luck with the job.
