Does anyone have any experience of using and pitching canvas Bell Tents?
I appreciate that they are alot heavier than more modern material tents, but are there any major down sides. All thoughts and advice welcome.
Thanks in advance.

If it's untreated canvas it will leak if the roof or walls are touched when it's raining.

We use a canvas pyramid which is a similar beast. It's obviously heavier and takes longer to dry than nylon, but it's warmer and you get less condensation. Most modern canvas tents don't leak when you touch the sides so long as you don't leave anything leaning on it for a long time. For older canvas there is always fabsil.

They do come "waterproofed".
However, I hear what you say.
I know we can't choose the weather, but I wouldn't intend using it in poor conditions.
All good thougts, please keep them coming.
