Going away with the lady for 3 nights in late Feb and think the Cotswolds would be a good place to go - unless someone has other iseas.

Want a luxury (or as close to) hotel with Spa facilities that serves great food and fab wine.

Suggestions please?

Although I have said Cotswolds anywhere within around 4 hours of Poole would be great!

Check out The Lygon Arms in Broadway. I bloody love the place... food is good (although not as good as in past years - it used to have a michelin star) and the booze is outstanding.

I've not personally tried the spa out, but the missus said it was very good.

Cowley Manor is cool with an emphasis on its spa facilities. http://www.cowleymanor.com/

That's pretty much your lot ^^^.

When you've come out of there feeling all refreshed and healthy, go for lunch at the pudding club in Mickleton, it's excellent (if you like pudding).

Agree - a mismatch between the hotel and how their site promotes it.

Another vote for the Lygon Arms in Broadway. It is ultra quaint though so is very popular with American tourists - not always the quietest diners!

Calcott Manor http://www.calcotmanor.co.uk/

Two restaurants...one is a pub in the hotel that serves posh pub grub, the other is a very good a la carte with a great wine list. The latter would put many London restaurants to shame.

Rooms are very nice and there is a great Spa/Pool and Gym which has an outdoor plunge pool too.

I've been to Cowley Manor too and thought this was better. The restaurant is definitely better but Cowley is more contemporary though it was feeling a little tired when we we there three years ago. The Spa etc at Calcott is a lot better.

I've statyed at Calcot three times with my wife and kids. It's a very good hotel, certainly one of the best in the UK that I've stayed at. We started going there for short (4 day) breaks when we couldn't quite summon the courage to put the kids in the car to go to cornwall (Tresanton at St Mawes). It's a different thing to Tresanton but really is very good. They also cut deals for 2/3 day packages. The spa is top notch, particularly the outdoor hot bath.

For anyone else looking for a fab Cotswold Hotel, but which is more of an amazing pub/B&B, The Red Lion at Long Compton is our all time favorite. Very dog friendly too.

Just Googled The Resanton...looks bloody nice! Though I have to say the idea of a five or six hour car journey with what by then will be a two and a half year old and a six month old doesn't appeal...one to remember though.

We did it a couple of times with the little-uns - the trick is actually to put them to bed in the car at say 5.30 pm, you know, milk, audio book on the stereo and then drive until you get there - say 11 /12. The hotel is fantastic, they'll have the room ready for you with some tea and sarnies when you arrive. They don't allow little ones into the restaurant in the evening so you have three choices if you want the children with you when you eat. They'll make up a private dining room for you which is cool or they'll do room service where each course is delivered hot and fresh and they even do proper wine service. I'm no fan of room service but this was great and free. Finally they do room listening or a baby sitter.

The children get a good meal earlier in the evening at about 5.30.
