Fuerteventura - Coralejo or Caleta de Fuste
Discussion
Of the two, Caleta de Fuste which is quite small but has some nice culinary establishments. A few pubs and a bit of karaoke. There's a particulary active Irish pub about halfway up the pedestrain hill leading to all the chalet areas.
There is a bad Chines on that hill but a cracking Chinese restauarant in the main precinct area. Looking at the sea from the precinct, head to your left and just before you leave the main area, there is a restauarant that you have to go don some stairs to get to which is great value and does sea bass cooked in salt. Can't recall the name though.
We paid a day visit to Corralejo and found it more commercial in a tacky way though it was busier as it gets traffic from Lanzarote day trippers. Caleta is midway so better to explore all the roads on the island which are great. Worth going to the north-eastern tip and just drive the north coast which isn't really a road just rutted track.
Worth exploring some of the tracks but watch out for naked Germans as they are not pleasant to look at. In many ways, the island is all a bit samey with it's gentle hills and yet I look back on it very fondly because it's still quite unspoilt.
Go to Google Images and put in the names and you'll get lots of photos to give you an idea.
I qualify all this by saying I went in Jan/Feb 2003 and they were building apace back then.

Agree with the above. We always have a day across to El Cortillo, there used to be a nice little fish resturant there. i much prefer the beaches at corajello.
Apart from that I find them pretty much the same with the usual tourist eateries
I always hire a car for 80 quid so stay in different resorts and hotels.
Not sure I fancy staying in the same hotel for a week.
Last holiday I stayed in both lanzarote and fuerteventura. 4 different hotels in the space of a week

We had a week in Caleta, it is quieter and much less tacky tourist, On the day visit up to Coralejo it seemed too tourist tack. I may be being a little snobby here but Coralejo felt very cheap Costa del, type of place, ok Caleta doesn't have a great beach but a good hotel and pool was enough of a replacement.
