Family holiday in Austria this summer

We are thinking of heading to Austria this summer with two children (11 and 14 both girls). Still undecided whether to drive all the way or hire a car while there. We have a week and would like to see something of the country and its history. Any tips that could guide us for a week or 10 days indulgence? Thanks

Salzberg and its surroundings are beautiful. Plenty of history there too.

The ice caves at Werfen are well worth a visit - they are inside a mountain top, with really stunning views down the valley:





Some good driving roads around there as well.
