Taking prescription medication abroad? (New York)
Discussion
Hopefully the more well travelled PH's can answer this!
I am on three different prescribed drugs for sleeping issues, and I am going to the states in June.
Are there going to be any problems with customs over this - and do I need to take proof of prescription with me? Also do they have to be in hand luggage or main luggage?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have not been out the country in 5 years

Take them in the box (with the printed label on it with your name on) and you'll be fine. Assuming it isn't prescription heroin or anything!
I got a letter from my doc just saying 'maxf needs these drugs as prescribed by me' (or similar) but have never needed to use it. I keep them in my hand luggage.

Google the drug names (try and use the proper name rather than the brand name) and it's quite likely something will pop up. If the drugs aren't licensed in the US you might want to check further, but I'd be very surprised if they weren't.
They are very standard, in fact one of them was first approved in the US
But I will do that.Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
