Villa holidays in the Greek islands- recommendations
Discussion
Looks like we're approaching the last year for an all family summer holiday. Three teenage daughters - say no more! The consensus is a Greek island villa - Skopelos, Kefolonia and Paxos are all in contention. Anyone got any recommendations?
Essential requirements are 2/3 bedrooms and pool. Don't want to be in a busy place necessarily; the focus is last 'family' holiday. Also doesn't have to be Greece, it's just that I'm most familiar with the Greek islands.

I can recommend Agios Stephanos in north east Corfu (there is another St Stephanos in North west corfu which is to be avoided). It's a lovely quiet seafont village with lots of nice villas in the surrounding olive groves. We went with James Villas but they only had one or two in the area. Meon Villas and Agni travel had more stuff there. There are five or six nice tavernas on the sea front which are family friendly, if you want bars and more noise Kassiopi is about 5 clicks up the road.
Far better and cheaper to find one yourself through www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holidaylettings.co.uk and sort out your own flights. That's the way we've been doing it for years and it's about half the price. It's a bit more work but worth it.
We have booked with Simpson Travel, and Ionian Island Holidays for Paxos and Kefalonia respectively. They seemed to be reasoable value and good quality. I'd recommend them both.
In my experience, I've tried to book direct but found that the tour operators have the monopoly on flights and transfers, which often work out more expensive by booking individually. This might not be so relevant if you can get a lo cost flight and car hire, but if the airport is serverd by only charter companies, or you need a flight and then boat/hydrofoil like Paxos.

Also Agni travel might be worth a look, I haven't used them but they are a good place to start looking.

My parents have a villa on Lefkas (between Corfu and Keffalonia), sleeps 8 with private infinity pool. There's a link to their holidaylettings page on my profile if it's of any interest.
Looks really nice but it's not available just when we want to go. Thanks for your post.caiss4 said:
