Lots to see so a coach tour may be quite good.

We did one when staying on Margaret Island and saw all the main sites from Parliament Building to the Citadel.

Margaret Island is very nice but not sure I would go there if I only had a morning. Heroes square was intersting as was the chain bridge and castle.

Best was a cafe in the main square that served finest cake/coffee but cannot remember the name of it, possibly the New York Palace. Mrs Am0 can picture it still - and far less expensive than expected,

I was there 2 weeks ago, lovely place but fking cold.

The best sights/photographic vantage points can be done on foot.

Start on the Chain bridge, walk across to the funicular which takes you up to Castle Hill. From there you can walk around the palace then go across to the Fishermans bastion. (Great views of the city from up here) Afterward, back down the funicular and back across the bridge to where you started. A very pleasant way to spend 2/3 hours.

Gerbeaud maybe?

Parliament is comparatively expensive for a tour 5k HUF I think?
But in my view worth it, it's an interesting and very photogenic building.

The Basilica is worth a trip up to the top too, as you get a good view over the Pest side of the city.

As well as going to Buda Palace across the river, I'd recommend a wander over the hills as you get great views of the Palace as you walk about.

There's definitely too much to see over a long weekend, so I'd recommend getting a guide book and picking out what tickles your fancy.
I missed out on the terror museum, but it's meant to be excellent and would be on my list if I went back.

Terror house is worth going to.

There's a communist statue park which is good too - http://www.budapest-tourist-guide.com/budapest-sta...

I did a 'communism' tour when there - went to the statue park / a communist era apartment etc. Pretty cool.

Was defiantly a good morning, I have to say over all we were not over excited by Budapest, but will go back in the spring /summer to check out the spa's and the other major sights we missed, I am living in Bratislava at the moment so only a couple of hours away via train.
