Early March in New York
Discussion
Never been before but did a lot of driving around the West Coast nearly 20 years ago. It's a long weekend stag do but I have just changed my flight back to get 3 extra days so I could actually see the place or get a V8 Camaro and do some driving.
Granted it's no point driving in New York City but my thoughts were to accompany the others to JFK when they fly home on the Sunday morning and pick up a car at the airport and then return it Tues night before my flight back.
So 50 odd hours of just me and the car, where should I go?
Oh and I have just applied for my photo licence as I have had the pink bit of paper for years. Would the new licence be enough for renting a car in the US or do I need an International Licence like needed all those years ago.
Cars rented back then were an Oldsmobile Ciero, a Pontiac Grandprix and a '69 Mustang 'vert V8.
Cheers

Hard to say at that time of year but I would say head north to upstate New York, Mass or Vermont. Exactly where you go depends on what you're interested in.
The thing is the weather in early March can still be seriously bad....or it can be beautiful. After a long stag I think I'd probably stay in NYC..there is tons to see and do and with 48 hours you aren't really going to be able to travel very far. And you'll need to spend a while sobering up before you hire the car ?

This
Weathers not going to be on your side to make it really worth while.
So leaving the idea for a quick 2 day road trip. I was literally going to drive, eat in a diner, stay in a sleazy motel and then head back, what about a list of what to do in NYC for a couple of days on my own.
And would the American women prefer my plummy SW London accent or my original Sarf London one.
Last time I went everyone thought I was Australian.

They won't have a clue about your accents.....they think every Englishman has got a 1960's BBC accent. The "dating scene" in cities like NYC is all about trying to work out who you are, what you do and how much cash you make.
The American women will prefer you if they think you're there to stay...not just there for a weekend. I think you'll find "I'm about to move to NYC and am spending next week looking at apartments. I've been given a budget of $12,000 a month...which areas would you recommend?" Will work nicely
The key bit being the budget as that gives them an idea that you make loads of cash. Telling them you live in SW London doesn't help them do that!Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
