Renewal has come through and is rather high (Insure & Go - £120 for top-end annual couple worldwide). Called them back and they'll graciously knock £20 off if I take a £50 excess...which checking their website is pretty much 'new business' levels despite us using them for 6 years...so my loyalty is fast disappearing!

Shopped around and knocked £50 off by using holidaysafe (recommended by Which? - any comments either way?) and foregoing Winter Sports (don't need it, but default with I&G)

Despite the Which report I've never heard of holidaysafe - anyone else used them, or can anyone recommend an alternative?

Thanks,

Martin.

Check and see who the underwriter is. There's loads of providers but far fewer underwriters.

The only time I've ever had call to use travel insurance it was underwritten by AXA for medical care and their call handler in the US was really good.
Buenos Aires office were a bunch of chimps, but I ended up just shouting at them until the man in the hospital was scared and they sorted themselves out with the US office. Bill was paid before the patient was out the hospital.

Try Essential Travel or just shop on the net, I very rarely use the same insurer twice in a row.
