Looking for recommendations for a rest and relaxation break in early May, probably in Mauritius or Maldives.

Le Touessrok is an option, (not least as the golf course looks amazing !!), but I'm open to other suggestions, particularly if there are some good offers available.

I'm thinking of a budget of £1.5 - £2.5k per person depending on what is available.

Thanks

Stayed here for 12 nights on honeymoon.

It was fantastic. Chilled, relaxing, great food, and great golf (if that sort of thing floats your boat). I also did a fair bit of water skiing as well, well, when I wasn't laying on the beach sipping cocktails....

Hired a car and travelled round the island too, the locals were freindly and gave a great dimension to the luxury of the hotel resort

As you mention golf you’ll struggle to my knowledge in the Maldives as I think there is only one 9 hole course in the collection of island (I’ve played it and it’s more of a pitch and putt.)

The Maldives are a little slice of paradise, if you want to go somewhere to totally unwind and can adjust to doing sweet FA all day and enjoy snorkelling and swimming the Maldives is the place to go, your budget is doable and could even get you AI somewhere, there are many islands to choose from to suit varying budgets but the price has climbed high in the 2 years since I was last there. Almost without exception the accommodation comes in the shape of beach huts/villa rather than hotel blocks. The places we stayed you took one step out your front door and you were on the beach another 5 and your had your feet in the Indian Ocean. Essentially your island is the equivalent to a hotel anywhere else but we barely saw another soul on the beach so felt like we had it to ourselves. Everywhere is soft sand including of the florr of the bars so I didn't wear any shoes for 2 weeks.

If you want more to do activities and like the sound of a traditional more resort like holiday Mauritius would suit you better.

Not found anywhere yet to beat the combination of beaches, diving/snorkelling, castaway feel, total R&R that the Maldives. Many try to find alternatives but they just don’t exist.

we are going to the Oberoi Mauritius for 2 weeks in May. Absolute bargain of a deal with W & O travel- not saying how much we paid, but well witihing your budget for a villa with pool on a B&B basis flying BA!

Seriously considerd Maldives, but there isn't a huge amount to do apart from drink, sleep, shag and swim- which gest a little repetitive after 2 weeks biggrin Mauritius has all sorts of interesting things to see and do.

Thanks for the comments so far:

I should have pointed out that:

- Our honeymoon 11 years ago was in Seychelles and Mauritius (staying at La Pirogue)
- About 5 years or so we went to the Maldives where I got my PADI advanced open water qualification (staying at Mirihi)

I appreciate the differences between the two (in particular that Maldives is about relaxation and snorkelling and pretty much nothing else) whereas Mauritius has the option of golf amongst other activties.

I was really after recommendations for one resort over another (as in the brochure / on the web they all look great) and to see if anyone was aware of any particualry attractive special offers!!

Fortunately we are less money constrained than when we went previously, so can hopefully find nicer venues (although the two resorts above were both nice).
