I just had to post! We went to the Disney Store in the Trafford Centre tonight and bought the WDW Park tickets. We now have the villa, flights, hire car, passports, ESTAs and park tickets sorted so we are good to go!!
It's our first family holiday abroad so excuse my massive excitement!!

Cheers, looking to head out to Daytona so will hopefully tie the two in... if it's do-able.

When are you going? Can't believe the temepatures in Orlando at the moment - getting close to 30C. We went January last yearand it was literally freezing.

We're going April 23rd (day after Good Friday). I've been looking at the weather recently and long may it continue!

Don't forget to go to old Town in Kissimmee for the Saturday night cruise. Better than Disney and FREE!

yes We were there in March last year and it was freezing, we had to go and buy sweatshirts as we hadn't packed anything for cold weather!

I've booked up this week too, 21 of us going, Florida isn't to everybody's taste but for a family holiday it's got something for everyone.

We went in the last 2 weeks of April too, and it was just about comfortable at mid 20's. We've been every year bar one for the last 20 years, but probably won't make it this year - various deomestic issues inc weddings and babies are getting in the way.

Us too, but the bride and groom to be just decided to get married over there, I'm thinking some sort of cheesy stretch Hummer may be in order for transporting us all on the day....must remember to tip our driver...

The weather is utterly gorgeous right now - mid 70's at 1.00pm, cloudless skies and just a hint of a breeze - between now and May is my favorite time here, from a climate standpoint.
March is scheduled to be warmer and drier than normal - great for visitors, more of a concern for those that live here, due to elevated brush-fire and sink-hole risks.
I live on a large chain of spring-fed lakes and water levels are down 14" on last year, which isn't a good thing. Apparently we need another active hurricane season to get everything back to normal, as happened in 2004.
Another upside of the fine March weather is that our premier motorsports events in that month (12 Hours of Sebring ALMS race and Gatornationals NHRA at Gainesille) are blessed with perfect conditions for the fans and the competitors.
If you are here in mid-March, you'd be insane to miss the 12 hour race.

Will definitely be checking out the Old Town, it's only round the corner from the villa.

Matt, we are going at Easter so will have to make do with watching that on the telly unfortunately.

Is Daytona worth a visit or is Clearwater the 'better' beach (kids are 10 and 6)?

Thanks
Mike

I think Clearwater was voted one of the best. Lovely beaches across to Caladesi and down to St, Petes and Belle air. If you are in orlando, get to Aquatica and enjoy some top nosh at Bahama Breeze and The outback steakhouse. Jealous me.

Hi Mike
I have to say I'm not so much of a beach person. The Atlantic coast has bigger surf and there are more places you can drive onto the beach (for a fee, of course). Bigger surf means more rip-current and a steeper fall-off. Cocoa Beach is where it's all at on the Atlantic side - but Apollo Beach, north of the Cape is just as nice and not full of obnoxious spring-breakers.
The gulf coast has calmer tide and is a lot shallower and therefore warmer and child-friendly. You can wade out a quarter of a mile and it still only be chest deep off some beaches.
Clearwater/St.Pete is nice, but gets pretty busy. Check out Fort De Soto Park, at the southern tip of Mullet Key, south of St. Pete beach. It's beautiful with fantastic, white sugar-sand - gets very hot though so lot's of sun-block required.
Anna Maria Island is also very pretty and relaxing - head south over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to Bradenton.

Daytona (The Speedway) would bore your kids rigid, as would KSC unfortunately - I think your kids may be a little young to fully appreciate the Space Center.
Good calls on Aquatica and Old Town, if that's your thing - and Bahama Breeze is OK (not worth the cost, in my view) and Outback very, very average steakhouse chain.

Let me know if you need any info on specifics - I'll do my best to help.
