Looking to book a holiday to watch the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix in November. With all the unrest in some Arab countries I thought I'd ask the question, probably a ridiculous one for some. As far as I'm aware there is no, or no potential for unrest in UAE, but thought I'd ask.

You'll be fine. The locals here seem to genuinely love their leaders whilst the expats can do feck themselves if they don't like it! So that rules out any internal 'arguments'!

Can't comment on the rest of the world deciding to attack though or the event of a natural disaster, etc.

Thanks guys, I though that would be the case. But sometime "insiders" get a whiff of something stirring so thought I'd check.

Will get the holiday booked today, looking forward to my first Grand Prix smile

Not to mention the HEAVILY discounted property they are allocated (kinda lottery system) and the 0% mortgage they can have for the duration.
Then there's the sponsorship deals only they can take advantage of, which mostly sees them get paid for doing nothing, then life's good!

So, if I dump the Mrs and marry a local bird, would I be eligable for all this? Is there a Citizens Advice Bureau I could go to and discuss?!

I understand that an Emirati marrying a non-Emirati forefits all the above benefits.

Sorry Chilli, you will have to find a rich Russian bird instead.

There are so few "real" locals from the UAE that a revolt seems unlikely. Over 80% of the population is imported labour from Asia, India, Pakistan, Western Europe etc, etc.....and they are treated like st day to day and so a revolt by the imported labour would be crushed quickly and viciously. Besides, even though the labour is imported it is comparatively well paid (albeit it the conditions they live in are rubbish and often the money is less than they expected).

Short answer; you'll be ok there (but then I would have said that about Eqypt, Tunisia and Libya 4 weeks ago!!)

We've had the odd Labour revolt before but as you said, it get's put down pretty quickly and the protagonists are deported before their feet can touch the ground.
