I'm meeting up with some old friends in Manchester on April 16th, does anyone have any city centre hotel recommedations for a one night stay?

I'm not looking for anything flash just somewhere to sleep after beer and curry. The usual PremierInn, Ibis, etc. places seem booked up according to their respective websites, although I might call them direct at some point over the weekend.

I've stayed in Jurys Deansgate a few times. Since it was refurbished it was top notch, good breakfast.

I got Mal Maison on tuesday for £89 via laterooms which I thought was good value. When I checked in I got upgraded, so got an exec room for £89.

I recently stayed in the Macdonald Manchester for 2 nights, good value through Expedia, looks very dull from the outside but internally modernised and our room was large, clean and quite modern and luxurious - 19 out of 126 on tripadvisor, pretty good for the price.

The Mint (used to be City Inn) is nice enough and usually has some kind of special offer on.
