Istanbul, one of the most renouned cities of the middle ages; caught in the middle of crusades and the victim of the 4th Crusade.

And you want to know where the nearest titty bar is?

Just remember that every gal in Constantinople lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople.

So if you've a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul.

I see your point of view, but back in those dark and heady days it was probably pretty close to the top of the crusaders 'to-do list' as well! hehe

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam.

Why they changed it, I can't say

Guess they just liked it better that way.

Go to Tpokapi (spelling?) palace. Go for a walk around the area outside Topkapi, its really medieval! When I was there a guy was on the street using a chicken to tell fortunes.

Great city only went there for a long weekend and I have so many strange memorise like the world’s shortest mugger and the bouncer who threw me into his club for my own safety!

Nice people, great food, watch out for the cats and learn to haggle.

And Particle Man was the best track on that album

Great city, loads to do, see, eat, drink, and er...watch gyrate wink

Sights - Grand bazaar, Spice bazaar, Blue Mosque, Suleymaniye Mosque, Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Galata bridge, Eminonu docks, ++++++

Do - ferry trips, tram rides (best way to get around), funicular, Istanbul Modern, shop/barter, go see Fenerbahce, Galatasary, Besiktas, visit a (straight!) Hamam, walk around and absorb...

Drink - Golden Mile between Ortakoy and Kurucesme for super-clubs, the road down from Taksim Square to Galata/Balo Sokak & the whole Beyoglu area (many great rooftop bars with stupendous views of the skyline)...

Eat - anywhere and everywhere

Happy to help if you want more info...

And here is a random picture of a submarine passing me the last time I was there and on a river trip down the Bosphorous, followed by one of the Blue Mosque...
