I have to select seats when flying as i'm tall and can't fit in most seats for long journeys without serious discomfort. My question is, can i select seats when using an agent like Expedia/Ebookers/etc... or is this feature only usually available when booking directly with the airline?

Thanks

I suspect it depends on the airline.

We've managed to do it with Emirates this time around - went onto the Emirates website, entered the booking ref, it all popped up.

What airline? Some, like BA, only offer seat selection 24hrs prior unless you pay extra, I assume you're after exit seats? On Virgin you can pay extra for them, IIRC it was £50 last time I did it.

If you have the booking reference then try on the airline website.

virgin you can select seats on their website with your booking ref , you wont be able to get the exit seats though

exit seats are payable on the day first come first served , prices vary i think they were nearer £75 they also some mid plane ones with an extra 2" for about £35 iirc

I have plenty of times. You just ask for the AMADEUS number and the airline's reference (which IIRC is on the data that the amadus number gives you).

Just don't expect to get the safety aisles. They usually prefer to give those out at the airport, once they've seen you aren't immobile.

u can do it i know expedia have their airline ref's on the confirmation emails

u can simply call the airline or do it via the website

however if you are keen to get the aisle seat then get to the airport early thats the only guaranteed way of getting those seats

Just remember, unless you pay for it, it's a reservation only not a firm booking.

Many factors will result in you losing what you requested, an aircraft change or getting a group together.

For the person editing the flight, a travel agents seat request, and especially if you have no frequent flyer details registered, is normally not even bothered with.

In short, speak to the airline direct if it's important (I'm tall myself, so I know it is !).

I think i will stick to booking direct with the airline, it makes this process a lot easier!

I will not book a flight unless i can confirm the seat as otherwise i have the possibility of getting a seat which i can't physically fit into.
