Right then, been there a few times now and going there again in a while.

Previously stayed in a Pool Villa at the Banyan Tree Bang Tao (Laguna), a nice enough place but whilst previously they've done very good deals from April 1st (Pool Villa for the price of a Deluxe and stay X number of nights get a night free) this year they aren't. You get the cost of your accommodation so spend in the resort but I'm not sure we'd make full use of that. There are only so many massages you can have and we eat out a lot. The one thing we did do which was excellent was charter their boat for a day round Phang Nga bay but I have a suspicion that would be excluded from the offer, and I can't see it listed anywhere anymore.

Had a really good stay in the Holiday Inn Patong in their Busakorn wing suites but they don't let kids in there (taking 10 yr old daughter). Whilst Patong might not be everyone's cup of tea the hotel is an Oasis and it's fun to dip your toe in the water for a few days. We also hire a pick up truck and Patong is handy for all the stuff be it go-karting, cable skiing, Marinas, Phuket town and so on.

Thought we were going to try the Movenpick in Karon this time possibly in a penthouse plunge pool suite but some less than enthusiastic reviews coming back from the place and they want £20, (yes I actually contacted them to check), per day for internet access and I have a sneaking suspicion that might be per device. So that's out of the equation.

So, anyone got any ideas ?

Have a look at the Royal Phuket Yacht Club, Nai Harn Beach. Was owned by Le Meridien when I went. One of the "Leading Hotels of the World". Private beach and stunning views from the cape to Burma. Not a great deal to do, but a stunning break nevertheless.

Stayed at the Katatani a couple of years back, a bit further out - nice place.

Also have a look at The Chedi - just to the north of Phuket on Pansea Beach.

To this day one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, anywhere in the world.

Not for kids/people with disabilities (a lot of steps), but absolutely chuffin marvellous!
