Hello everybody.

Any suggestions for a nice hotel close to T4 that I can stay at for one night before a holiday, that accomodates parking for 11 days?

There's a Hilton AT T4. Don't know about parking, though.

Strewth, you live nearby. Why not get a taxi?

Well spotted! I'm actually living on the Isle of Wight now, I need to update my profile. smile

I was considering dumping the car at a friends but would rather not put anyone out.

Hilton was my first thought too, after googling...cheers fella

Ah...

I'd still consider a taxi. Should be about £100 each way.

Edit...

If you leave your motor at a friend's, tell your insurer. I know someone whose insurer demanded £30 for parking at his brother's house for two weeks. Don't ask me, I have no idea how the bandits justify this.

Wouldn't the ferry and train be just as good? I suppose it depends on how many there are of you. But from memory, taking the car on the IOW ferry was never particularly cheap.

We could taxi there and back from Portsmouth, I'm right next to the Hover Terminal here in Ryde....but the timing is not ideal for the return journey (land at 11pm). Would probabbly work out cheaper than ferry/fuel/hotel!

No surprise about the Insurance (the gits!). I guess if you call to ask, they will see that as an opportunity for a bump! I wonder, if your friend had not called them first, but had to make a claim, would they have denied him due to the car not being at his normal premises?...I wont be telling my insurer I'm parking the car at the hotel for 11 nights for example.

Theres just me and the other half...I could take the train, but theres a fair amount of logistics there and a very early start outbound. The plan is to go up night before and be at the airport ready to go first thing.

I try not to think about the ferry crossing cost(anything between £40 and £70 and seemingly dependant on Jupiters alignment with Saturn).

I take the ferry most weeks and just write it off as a cost of living on gods own island.

My parents have stayed at the Sheraton before for that. A night plus a couple of weeks of secure parking was about £100 iirc.

Timing's not a problem for airport taxis. We work 24 hours, 365 days, with no extra fares at night. You ought to be able to find one locally. Suppose the limiting factor is what time ferries start.

Rent a car one-way, most of the usual rental companies will do this. It will be cheaper than a taxi or 11 days parking at Heathrow.

OK sorted, £134 @ the Hilton right next to T4, theres a walkway that joins the two....includes secure parking (for up to 15 days in case the planes delayed!).

Means less hassle due to the times and more time to relax. Liked the taxi idea, but prefer the Range Rover better.

Watch out Mogadishu, here we come! Supposed to be lovely this time of year.

wink

We stayed at Heathrow Cottages a few years back - pretty nice, and the owner drops you off & picks you up.

It wouldnt matter which hotel you stayed at, you could park your car at any of the airport parks with a shuttle service, as i believe it is free transport between alot of the hotels and the terminals.

eg, if you were staying at the renaissance hotel (North of north runway - opposed to T4 being on the south of the southern runway) it would be easy to take the hotel bus to the central terminals and then shuttle bus to T4 or perhaps even the underground from heathrow central to T4?

at a quick look though, car parks are charging around 8-10 per day. I dont know how much the official T4 Long Stay is?
