CentreParcs - which one?
Discussion
Looking for a short break (24 -27 June weekend) in a Centre Parcs, but which one is the best, bearing in mind two kids aged 5 and 9?
I'm in Notts, so Sherwood Forest is close but I'd prefer not to go there (I've worked nearby recently and it just wouldn't feel like I've 'gone away', IYSWIM?)
So that leaves the other two.
I say two because I'm sort of in between Whinfell Forest and the one in Suffolk, and the Wiltshire one is too far.
Any experiences of either?

I'd say longleat. We go yearly for an early winter break, very nice place.
Lots of walking as very spread out, not the best when the weather is bad.
Choose the cheapest accommodation and you could be walking 20-30mins to everything. Be sure to look at park map when booking acommo especially if you are taking kids, also note that the whole resort is in a valley, so big hills added to distance.

There's only one answer for PH

About 15km from the Nurburgring
Actually, it's pretty old facilities-wise, but there's plenty for the kids and you're 15 minutes from Cochem for the adults.

Another vote for Longleat. Tried Sherwood last year, nowhere near as good.
Back to Longleat for a long weekend next month for the outdoor rapids
I miss the rapids. So good in the rapids when dark. Except the first bit you have to climb / swim / dolphin imitate over which is absolutely freezing!Back to Longleat for a long weekend next month for the outdoor rapids

We have been to both Sherwood and Longleat, and the latter imo is far superior in both facilities and accommodation. The upgraded woodland lodges at Longleat are lovely and worth the relatively small extra cost too.
And in fact the ones that haven't been upgraded are pretty shabby now, so well worth upgrading. The new ones are also nearer to the pool. For those willing to go further a mate of mine has taken his kids to a CentreParcs in France....he said it was much better value and obviously the weather is generally better come summer time. Even going 200 miles south can make quite a difference.
He lives in Kent though so very easy for him.

Was in Sherwood couple of weeks ago - been for the last couple of years.
It is getting abit tired now. Although the brand new treehouses look pretty special. Pricey though.
I've not tried Longleat, went to the Cumbrian one quite a few years ago which was good but as i say - several years ago now.

Done all of them, Winfell has nicer "Cabins"
Longleat is nicely spaced out so somthing is always near, but walking from the sports hall to the swiming pool can feel like a fair old treck as its up a very steep walk.
Elvidin (sp?) is probably the best all-rounder, and would be easier to get to for you then Longleat. But doesnt feel as good as when they had the "Dome"

£70 return for the ferry, it's about 200miles from Dover.
