Tipping in Mexico

Hi all,

I have booked a all inclusive holiday to playa del carmen and would you need to tip etc? I have looked on the net but seems all mixed. To whom has been there what did you do?

I went to an all inclusive at the Riu Tequila, With regards to tips i did as follows:

When we had breakfast and was served we left a couple of dollars again at dinner, The same when the maid came every couple of days and did the sheets the towels and filled the bar up.

The maid was brilliant and i tipped him a couple of bucks every time he came but i gave him 20 bucks at the end of the holiday as my room was spotless and i mean spotless.

With reagards to drinks at the bar instead of giving a tip at every drink i gave them a few bucks prior to leaving, they seemed more than happy with this.

You dont have to tip a lot but make sure you tip as they get paid peanuts and they really really appreciate it.

always make sure you tip your maid, as your room will be spotless and your mini bar will be fit to bursting.

Btw have fun i loved Mexico and the people were ace.

Dont forget your 50 bucks exit fee on the way out of the country
