Hotel/Motel Miami, Everglades, Top of Keys - any must stays?

Heading to Florida for a couple of weeks and planning to take a break from Orlando Theme Parks etc to visit Miami, the top of the Keys and go on an Airboat in the Everglades.

I'm looking for recommendations in any of these places. Ideally want something "different", not just generic hotel/motel etc. Something themed, treehouse, car related - anything a bit different, suitable for 2 adults and a 9yr old.

Any experiences/suggestions? You've always managed to come up with great suggestions to my previous requests, so I look forward to the advice.

Have stayed here before, prior to a kayak trip through the Everglades. Really liked it and would stay again.

About 1.5/2 hours West of Miami.

Great views, free boat, great food and pool/bar

Open to haggling as well
