My mate is having his stag do in August 2012 and wanted it to be a Cheap eastern Europe job.
Easy you may think, But we want to go somewhere people dont normally go. Prague is becoming too popular with Stag weekenders. I suggest Krakow to another friend who said it was a crap place, until he actually went and now claims it was his idea that it was a good place to go.
Anyway, its more a one upmanship type deal really (not involving the stag). I always suggest somewhere to go, he says if crap, next thing the place is on Top Gear (Romania), he goes and now its the best place! Fecking annoying.

So fellow PHers, help me find somewhere cheapish and interesting in Easter Europe lol.
I was thinking Montenegro, but unsure, its looking like £3-400 for flights.
So any City in Poland or somewhere that is Interesting and unknown?

Cheers people.

I'm going to Vilnius in Lithuania in June for a friend's stag do. Flights, accommodation and a stag guide come to under £200.

It looks like a very nice place and although the capital city, is small enough so that everything is within walking distance. Obviously we are not going for a quiet pleasant break but it does seem to have plenty of history and culture too, so not a complete dive.

Any secret plans for the stag yet?! beer

Cheers for that.
Looks like a good place! I am not the Best man, just an usher, so have not been thinking of plans for the stag yet lol. But I will pass these details onto the Best man. Lithuania for under £200, can't be bad!
Hope you have a good time. Take some pics as well and let me know what the place is really like. I have well over a year to save as its Aug 2012 we are going so plenty of time to plan things as well.

I went to a stag party in Gdansk, Poland a couple of years ago. Good laugh.

Worked in Gdansk for a while. Very cool place, and a quite pretty town center considering it's a port city.

gdanks is not bad, but it's small and not much going on.
belgrad forget it, just a big city and people are not so friendly.
prague is cool, not a surprise.

if you want off the beaten track, try bucarest, it is very cheap and easy to go around, good restaurants and nice girls, not o lot of tourism....

Cluj in north west Romania. University town with some fabulous bars, clubs, etc. Pretty town and lovely people. Whiz Air fly direct from Luton.

Sofia - very cool place and as yet, largely undiscovered by the masses.

well, sarajevo is also cool. I was there some years ago for new year's eve and it was great. Mind you I drove there and there were no motorways in bosnia, so it was a bit of a epic journey (snowing too!).

if you are not looking for wild nights only, that should be a quite unusual destination ;-)

Sarajevo is my suggestion also. I lived there for six months last year. It's cheap as chips and chock full of awesome scenery, in more ways than one. wink Plus, not all that many people (outside the military) have been there, which adds to the 'cool' rating.

Stay at the Holiday Inn for 'famous war landmark' status, or the Hotel Europe for affordable luxury.

Don't go for a walk in the surrounding hills, unless certain of their 'mine-free' status. smile

Downside - no direct flights from the UK, though it doesn't take long to get there, changing in Budapest, Vienna or Munich.
