Lake Como - car-friendly hotels?
Discussion
Looking for a car friendly hotel around Lake Como ( & possibly Garda also, although we're considering a cheap villa there*) - but it has to be somewhere that isn't going to break the bank - <€150 per night B&B would be good.
Location less important, but in or within walking distance of one of the towns for preference, so we've a choice of restaurants and access to a ferry terminal.
Can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks,
Martin.

My gf and I spent 5 wonderful nights at the Albergo Milano http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187837-... Try and get one of the rooms overlooking the lake with a terrace. They have a few lock up garages a few hundred meters from the hotel. You lucky, lucky man you.
I stayed here a few years back: http://www.eremogaudio.it/inglese.htm
Very nice with stunning views and only 5 mins walk to Varenna. Very reasonable and places to park your car.

Stayed here some years ago - a quick check of their prices suggests it might be slightly more than you want to pay, unless they are doing offers when you want

right by the lake, fairly close to a ferry as I recall and has a decent, secure car park

I went last October (drove from Sheffield to Lake Como.)
We stayed at the Aurora Hotel and Restaurant.
9-bay car park infront of the hotel, right next to their lakeside restaurant. Free parking.
Had additional bays available at the rear.
Found Como and Bellagio to be reasonably car friendly.
Plenty of parking spaces and street parking (all colour coordinated to show variations in time limits,) not to mention their excellent bus service and boat service.

We went to Como on honeymoon 5 years ago and stayed in the Palace Hotel in Como.
Its got one of those automated underground car park system at the back. Have a look at the picture on Google below and the two brown round buildings in the back are the carp park.

Edit: It appears that Como has been street viewed. Here are the car parks 'buildings'.

I would avoid Varenna for car friendly places, really interesting place to visit but I really liked menaggio, and you can visit Varenna on a ferry in 10 mins.
Verenna would be a nightmare for trying to park a car as the hotels are all very old (hence not very car friendly with very few having their own parking) and the very small main square is almost always full, so not much parking there either.
Menaggio doesnt have quite the old world charm of Verenna, but has more space and is a whole lot flatter than Varenna, walked past the Grand Hotel which had a decent parking area to it's left as I remember, not sure on prices but great location and seconds away from the main square with restaurants etc.
