Summer city break

Well, summer holiday plans look likely to be shelved due to house purchase, however I still wouldn't mind taking the GF away somewhere with a view to possibly popping the question. Will have a look at most places, just looking for ideas really. Not looking to go raving everynight but somewhere with a little nightlife would be nice.

So guys, any suggestions???

I'm assuming that cost is part of the consideration here, so my top 3 recommendations would be Prague, Budapest or Krakow. You can then take her somewhere uber posh without a nasty letter from the bank manager.

looked into it for abit more of a lads grown up holiday but somebodys budget help us back. you will be suprised how fantastic the place looks and to me would be the perfect place to ask her

If you don't mind heat, Rome in the summer is very romantic. Plenty of places to visit, eat, drink, dance, sleep etc and most of the places are within walking distance of each other.

Edit to add: However, my list would start with "to where can we fly from my local airport?"...
