Djerba - Any good?
Discussion
It depends what you are looking for. I was there a couple of years ago, and used it as a start and end point for a tour of the whole country (done independently with public transport/louages etc). It's a small island, most of the beachside hotels have their own strip of beach, with a reasonable size town, plus a few "attractions" - there's a small tourist attraction showing the history of the island, and as well as crocodile world (actually more interesting than it sounded!).
When are you looking to go - bear in mind that Ramadan starts on 1st August this year, so it will be more subdued there as most of the population are Muslim. I don't expect it will make a massive difference in the larger hotels, but in smaller, independent places it may. Restaurants won't open until after sunset, so you have to eat later if you go outside of hotels etc.

Used to use this airport as a starting point for my work in Libya, Djerba is very popular with germans and austrians but i would say there isnt much to do to be honest the beaches are ok and it's close to the desert but apart from that it's pretty baron.
I would'nt really suggest going now to be honest it's proximity to Libya and the troubles in Tunisia of late would put me off to be honest.
