I've heard that Easyjet and Ryanair are able to detect if you are browsing the timetable and then jack up the fares if you leave the site and return a few minutes later using the same IP address.

Any truth in this? If so, does disabling Cookies solve the problem?

Apparently they're not the only ones. You'll probably need them enabled to search, but can clear em out whenever you like.

The flights I looked at actually went down the day after, so I don't think it's as simple as that.

I wondered about this too. In my case I noticed an increase in Ryanair prices on the third visit in 24 hours. I didn't buy and 2 days later the price was back where it started. It doesn't seem consistent though, so perhaps only works if there are less than a certain number of tickets left at that price?
